NorthLink Ferries to open bookings for 2019

NorthLink Ferries is set to open bookings for 2019 travel to and from the Northern Isles from Monday (12 November).
The lifeline ferry service, operated by Serco, will continue to operate up to three passenger sailings a day, on the MV Hamnavoe, from Scrabster to Stromness and nightly sailings, on the MV Hjaltland and MV Hrossey, from Aberdeen to Lerwick – with multiple sailings going via Kirkwall.
Regular timetabled freight services to both Shetland and Orkney will be provided by the MV Hildasay and MV Helliar throughout the new year.
Stuart Garrett, Serco’s managing director of NorthLink Ferries, said: “The Northern Isles are increasingly popular destinations and 2018 has been a very successful year – according to our latest reports visitor numbers are up 10%.
“With many exciting events, such as traditional music festivals and midsummer celebrations, planned for both Orkney and Shetland, next year we’re looking forward to carrying more passengers and freight to and from the islands and showcasing the very best the Northern Isles has to offer.”
From Monday, customers will be able to make 2019 bookings through the NorthLink Ferries website, customer contact centre, or the smartphone and tablet app which also allows passengers to view timetables, make bookings and, add cabins, vehicle details, meals and lounge access to bookings.
