Dry Dock update: Tuesday 4th March 2025

Stuart Garrett, managing director of Serco NorthLink Ferries said: “Work on the M.V. Hjaltland is progressing well, however the vessel will not return to service before the weekend. The timetable has now been updated and customers who will be impacted by these changes will be contacted directly. 

“As before, the M.V. Hrossey continues to operate our passenger service between Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick, with the M.V. Helliar and Hildasay providing freight services.

“Further updates will be provided as more information is available.”

Stuart Garrett, managing director of Serco NorthLink Ferries said: “As work on the M.V. Hjaltland continues in dry dock, there will be changes to scheduled sailings until at least Wednesday 5th March 2025. In the meantime, the M.V. Hrossey continues to operate our passenger service between Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Lerwick, with the M.V. Helliar and Hildasay providing freight services.

“We would like to thank customers for their understanding, where their sailings have been impacted. Our customer service team will be in touch with everyone whose travel plans are affected. We would like to emphasise that the team is working hard to safely return the vessel to service as soon as possible.

“Further updates will be provided as more information is available.”

Stuart Garrett, managing director of Serco NorthLink Ferries said: “As we were refloating the M.V. Hjaltland in dry dock yesterday evening, a flood occurred in the pump room. Nobody was injured in the incident. We are currently assessing the impact of the incident and remedial works required. Until we know more it will not be possible to put a timeframe on its return to service.”
