Serco NorthLink Ferries support Anti-Slavery Day 2021
Monday 18th October 2021
Today (Monday, 18th October 2021) is Anti-Slavery Day 2021. The Day aims to raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of modern-day slavery and human trafficking.
With over 300 rescued victims in Scotland in 2020 the misery of modern slavery did not lessen during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Scotland Against Modern Slavery exists to raise awareness of this problem in the business communities of Scotland and today NorthLink Ferries joined SAMS as their first public transport business.
Shan Saba, Founder of SAMS stated “The rise of human trafficking and modern slavery in Scotland has sadly been on the increase and we are delighted to have NorthLink Ferries take the lead in public transport organisations in Scotland”
“NorthLink Ferries will continue to raise awareness of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery which impacts communities across Scotland. Working with our partners such as Scotland Against Modern Slavery (SAMS) we will continue to educate our staff on identifying this appalling crime, and ensure they have the knowledge and confidence to report their concerns,” said NorthLink Ferries Managing Director Stuart Garrett. “We are extremely proud to be joining SAMS on Anti-Slavery Day as their first public transport operator and look forward to supporting their work in this important area.”
