Serco NorthLink Ferries hits record 200,000th passenger aboard MV Hamnavoe for a second year

Tuesday 19th November 2024

Serco NorthLink Ferries welcomed its 200,000th passenger of the year onboard the MV Hamnavoe almost one month earlier than it reached this record-breaking milestone for the first time last December (2023).

On Monday’s 19:00 Scrabster to Stromness sailing, the significant milestone was reached for the second time in Serco NorthLink Ferries’ twelve-year history.

To show NorthLink Ferries’ appreciation, the 200,000th passenger, Elizabeth Flett, was presented with a bottle of champagne and complimentary travel vouchers. Elizabeth and her husband Tom also enjoyed a complimentary meal in Magnus’ Lounge on their journey home.

Stuart Garrett, Serco’s Managing Director for NorthLink Ferries, said: “I would like to express my gratitude to Elizabeth and Tom and to all our valued customers who chose to cross the Pentland Firth on MV Hamnavoe in 2024.

It is amazing that we have reached this milestone back-to-back in 2023 and 2024, beating last year’s record by eighteen days! As we continue in our commitment to improve the sailing experience for passengers on all of our ships, I am very excited to see what we can achieve in 2025.”
