Wednesday 6th November:

We had a visit from the Primary 3 class from Glaitness Primary School yesterday. They are doing a project on transportation.

The pupils and their teachers were welcomed on board the MV Hamnavoe for a tour and were shown around by Dana and Magnus. They saw the passenger areas of the ship, and also the bridge (where they got the chance to sound the horn twice), the crew messroom, and the engine room! The pupils asked some fantastic questions along the way and were very well behaved.

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming them to the Stromness Terminal and on board the ship and would like to thank them for their lovely letters!

Thursday 14th November:

We recently welcomed a group of Master level students from Robert Gordon University Maritime Law course and their lecturer on board the MV Hrossey. Three key members of our management team helped to educate the students on the practical requirements of meeting with industry regulations, legislation, and policies.

We enjoyed having them onboard and hope they gained a useful insight into the day-to-day practicality of complying with regulation and legislation.

Monday 18th November:

NorthLink Ferries welcomed its 200,000th passenger of the year onboard the MV Hamnavoe almost one month earlier than it reached this record-breaking milestone for the first time last December (2023).

On Monday’s 19:00 Scrabster to Stromness sailing, the significant milestone was reached for the second time in Serco NorthLink Ferries’ twelve-year history.

To show NorthLink Ferries’ appreciation, the 200,000th passenger, Elizabeth Flett, was presented with a bottle of champagne and complimentary travel vouchers by Gary Watt, Master, and Karen Riddell, Purser, MV Hamnavoe. Elizabeth and her husband Tom also enjoyed a complimentary meal in Magnus’ Lounge on their journey home.

Thank you to all who choose to travel with NorthLink Ferries!

Friday 22nd November:

We were delighted to recently partner with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group at Robert Gordon University to host their Level 2 Innovation Award Challenge.

The day included an online morning session and an in-person afternoon workshop where groups of students worked together to develop innovative strategies to an industry challenge. Once the sessions were finished, participants presented their ideas to members of the NorthLink team and the Serco OE team. Each successful student received a Level 2 Innovation Award certificate in recognition of their efforts.

A huge well done to everyone who participated and made this event a success!
