Completion of work to Hatston Pier access road

Orkney Islands Council are pleased to confirm the successful completion of work to improve the access road to the Hatston Pier which has involved the temporary diversion of traffic through the Hatston Enterprise Area for those people using facilities on the Hatston Pier access road and the Pier itself.

The temporary diversion route which has been in place since the beginning of April will be removed from Friday 5th June and people wishing to access businesses on the Hatston Pier road, the Pier itself, including passengers using the NorthLink vehicle check-in service will now be able to access these from the Hatston Pier road as was normally the case prior to April.

The current diversion route, through the newly developed Hatston Enterprise Area, will remain open over the weekend period but will be closed from Monday 8th June to allow the necessary completion of road works within this area.

Orkney Islands Council would like to thank members of the public for their patience and cooperation over the last few weeks and in particular those individuals and businesses directly impacted by the construction works. Road users are reminded to drive safely and within the noted limits for a working harbour area.
