I'd just like to take a moment to thank Northlink Ferries for making our recent business trip to Orkney a very pleasurable and 'pain-free' experience. From the initial booking right through to our return to Scrabster we had thefeeling that we were important to you folk! The admin side was faultless(a rarity these days!), right down to our free vehicle amendments.
The ferry itself was nigh on immaculate, the staff were pleasant and very helpful, the prices were reasonable. Oh, if only all our trips were this great!
Sadly this won't be a regular excursion for us, but we will be returning at sometime in the future. In the meantime, we have been advised that there is some work planned on Shetland sometime in 2009. Something to look forward to I guess! Thanks again to all the staff.
I recently used your company to travel to Orkney and Shetland. I was so impressed with your company and staff. The food was lovely and reasonably
priced, the cabins were lovely and clean, all the staff were so helpful.
I write to say that my family had a great time on the ferry leaving Stromness on 2nd August. We had 2 cabins the night before on the boat and they were lovely - really better than what I was expecting. We enjoyed using the cabins and the knowledge that the car would be put on board for us in the morning - no hassle!
The 2 men who explained everything to us were very polite and friendly. We were made to feel very welcome. Then breakfast - again very good and served with a smile. I look forward to using this service again.
I would like to pass on special thanks to the crew of the MV Hjaltland, whom provided a wheelchair and saw me safely to and from my disabled cabin on Tuesday 29/7/08 from Aberdeen to Kirwall.
I had just been released from Woodend Hospoital in Aberdeen after a hip replacement. The crew's care and assistance was very much appreciated, nothing was too much bother. I was very happy with my cabin, which had great facilities and was very comfortable.
Thank you NorthLink.
'I have just returned from a trip to Shetland and Orkney involving travel on both Hrossey and Hjaltland ferries in July 2008. I felt I should write to you to thank your staff (not just the receptionists but the guys on the car deck too) for the friendly and competant way they helped me with my wheelchair needs. This was my first trip since becoming wheelchair bound and it certainly made an important diference for me.'
'We sailed with you on 26th June, 2008 at 8.45a.m. from Scrabster to Stromness - it was first class, staff , service, and the ship was spotless.
We also booked the return trip with B & B the same night, the cabin was wonderful and large (disabled ), the lift worked and our car was parked next to the lift on both trips. The crew were just so helpful, please pass on our thanks to them for such a wonderful trip from being to end. They made us just so welcome and nothing was a problem to them . Oh! And the breakfast was great and such value.
We have sailed on lots of ferries, but Northlink puts the rest to shame.
All in all a wonderful experience, and then Orkney, what a wonderful place.'
'We have travelled to Orkney with NorthLink Ferries on 3 occasions and we just wanted to say how impressed we have been with the standard of service you provide. The Hamnavoe is a pleasure to travel in (and we have travelled in a lot of ferries) - it is extremely clean, comfortable and the staff are so helpful and pleasant.
In addition, we have had reason to cancel journeys on 2 occasions (one due to family bereavement and the other due to a change of plans) - in both cases we have been astounded at the speed with which we have received a refund, with a minimum of fuss. Please accept our thanks for pleasant journeys and excellent service.'
'Having crossed the Pentland Firth on numerous occasions in recent weeks I would like to commend the seamanship of the skippers on the Hamnavoe. As a passenger on this crossing since 1935, they know how to handle the Pentland Firth - and they have an excellent ship.'
'I would like to thank all your staff for making our recent trip to Shetland such a memorable holiday. From the moment we checked in at Aberdeen we were very impressed with the service your company gave us. I have a disability and needed to be near to the lift.
This was immediately taken care of, and was also noted in advance of our return trip. The cabin was of a high standard and we felt very comfortable. The food was a reasonable price and all the staff that we had any contact with throughout our journey were friendly and helpful.
We hope to return before too long!!'
'I want to give you some very positive feedback on our recent sailings on NorthLink Ferries.
We’d never traveled with NorthLink Ferries before and took 3 journeys as part of a holiday on Shetland and Orkney in late June.
We were very impressed and pleased; the booking in was straightforward, the ferries left and arrived on time, each ferry’s passenger areas were very clean, the food was good and reasonably priced, the overnight cabin was extremely good and most of all, the staff were all efficient and friendly.'
'I must tell you that our guests are all extremely impressed with NorthLink. They weren't expecting a ship as nice with comfortable cabins for their journey from Aberdeen to Shetland - the service they received onboard gave them a great first impression. They were made to feel very welcome.'
'Due to a variety of circumstances we had to ring to change our travel arrangements on four separate occasions. On each one we were treated with courtesy and understanding and your staff were incredibly helpful; we felt that NorthLink had an excellent attitude towards travel flexibility and that your firm was prepared to help out its customers without imposing penalties and creating difficulties.
We usually fly, but will be prepared to travel by ferry in the future, as a result of our experience.'
'We sailed from Scrabster on the 10-8-07 and returned from Stromness on the 13-08-07. I have traveled this route before but my partner and her children have not. She is not a very good sailor - she only has to go on a
boating lake and she is ill. But when we sailed we came from the car deck up to the lounges and she was full of the WOW factor. She was really impressed with the cleanliness, the decor, the staff and she was so relaxed it was as if she was an old sea hand at sailing, and amazingly she was not ill. She even had a full breakfast, which really impressed me and the children. You leave other ferries standing in comfort, style and class.'
'I am writing to compliment you on the operation of both Hjaltland and Hrossey. On each occasion we drove off the ship at or before the advertised time, having enjoyed a good dinner in the restaurant on the previous evening with pleasant and attentive service, a comfortable cabin and a hot shower.'
'I have been meaning to write sooner to say that we really enjoyed our trip to Shetland and return to Aberdeen on above mentioned dates, we were really impressed with the level of service given by the staff onboard and also the cleanliness, on this our first journey onboard your ferry.
Also would like to thank you for sending on to us the scarf my wife had left onboard. We had just returned from a holiday to find that you had left a message on our phone and receipt of the scarf.
To me that is personal service which is appreciated and very rare.
Again thanks for a wonderful trip, we are planning to go to Orkney next year and look forward to traveling with yourselves.'
'Can I say how impressed we both were with your company as a whole, from friendly, professional staff to great food on the ferry at a really decent price to what was a beautiful boat in the shape of MV Hamnavoe.
We look
forward to going back to the Orkney's one day and to traveling with you again.'
'I feel compelled to write to you to compliment you and your company. I have just enjoyed an excellent meal at the Ladeberry restaurant and felt it was important that I pass on my thoughts about the experience. Firstly, and most importantly, I wish to compliment both the chef and service - both were without fault. Clearly a great deal of care and attention has been paid to both the food and the experience of eating on board.'
