Do I need a cabin?
All cabins onboard the MV Hamnavoe, HV Hrossey and MV Hjaltland have been built with your comfort in mind. They are modern, clean, spacious and fully equipped with en-suite washbasin, toilet and shower facilities. Linked by telephone to the ship’s reception desk, we offer a cabin service on request.
You can reserve a cabin for exclusive use or, under our sharing scheme, book a berth only at a very reasonable price. You can have an inner cabin without as window or an outer cabin with a window so that you can admire the seascape. With our cabin sharing scheme, most berths are curtained for extra privacy.
Disabled cabins with extra facilities are also available. To book these, please phone 0845 6000 449.
We are often asked if cabins are required for every journey, below is our advice:
Scrabster to Stromness / Stromness to Scrabster
As the Scrabster to Stromness journey is only 1½ hours long and operates during daytime, cabins are not essential.
However, if you would like to lie down somewhere private, cabins can be booked prior to travelling, or from the hotel reception desk onboard.
In the summer months, for passengers travelling on the first Stromness to Scrabster crossing at 0630, cabins can be booked on a bed and breakfast basis with boarding the previous evening between 2130 and 2330.
Aberdeen - Kirkwall / Lerwick to Kirkwall
As these sailings depart early evening (1700 from Aberdeen or 1730 from Lerwick) and are not overnight journeys (arriving in Kirkwall at 2300) cabins are not essential.
However, again, if you would like to lie down somewhere private, cabins can be booked prior to travelling, or from the hotel reception desk onboard. We would recommend that you book your berth or cabin in good time to avoid disappointment.
Kirkwall to Aberdeen / Kirkwall to Lerwick / Lerwick to Aberdeen / Aberdeen to Lerwick
These sailings are all overnight crossings, arriving the following morning in Aberdeen at 0700 and Lerwick at 0730.
Some passengers may choose to camp out on seats or the floor. However, with berth prices starting from just £19.50, we would always recommend that you take a bed for a much more comfortable overnight journey.
These cabins can be extremely popular, and so we advise passengers to book their berth or cabin in good time.
